Eric Hogue spent over 25 years in various management positions in the corporate world, and then his employer was bought by another company. In late 2012, Eric was caught up in that transition and became part of the company’s workforce reduction – a fancy way of saying he was laid-off, or to be a little more blunt – he was fired!
His wife, Tammie, encouraged Eric to do something he really wanted to do with his forced career move. He looked at various companies in the industry in which he had spent the last quarter of a century and soon realized he would just be searching for another job. This time he wanted to find a meaningful career. Eric determined a position in sales, would open up new learning experiences for him; and give him the flexibility to pursue other goals and dreams.
Eric Hogue is a published author of a children’s book, Chairman of the Baylor Scott & White Lake Pointe Medical Center Advisory Board, Chairman of the Collin County Historical Commission, the former mayor of Wylie, Texas, former President of the Texas School for the Deaf Governing Board, former Chairman of the Birmingham Land Trust, a professional keynote speaker, and a professional magician.
In other words, Eric is an author, entrepreneur, community leader, entertainer, volunteer, speaker, politician, and real estate agent! It’s safe to say, he likes to stay busy.
In 2013, Eric had family members relocating to the north Texas area and asked Kathy Spillyards to serve as their real estate agent. In the process, Eric discovered real estate might be the next career move he had been seeking. He decided to take the steps to get his real estate license, joined Kathy’s team, and for over a decade Eric has been working with residential and commercial clients helping them to meet their real estate needs.
Eric brings to his clients a unique perspective with his knowledge of city government and growth patterns, his experience around the planning and zoning of neighborhood and commercial developments, his understanding of city ordinances, and his relationships with city officials in the north Texas area. These experiences aid Eric in helping his clients, both residential and commercial, in finding a real estate property that meets their needs today and in the future.
Eric has been recognized for his efforts to promote personal and professional growth in and around his community:
- Named as one of the 21 Leaders for the 21st Century in Collin County, Texas.
- The 2019 Award of Distinction from the Wylie Downtown Merchants Association
- Named Citizen of the Year by the Wylie Chamber of Commerce.
- Awarded the Community Builder Award from the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas.
- A Presidential Citation from the Society of American Magicians.
- The Community Ethics Award by the Rotary Club of Wylie East Fork.
Today, Eric and Tammie still make their home in the city of Wylie, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. Their grown children live nearby, and their two grandchildren have “Nana and Pops” wrapped around their little fingers!
